March 24, 2004—The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a 2003 ENERGY STAR Small Business and Congregation Award to the Wingate Inn Hotel of Bozeman, MT. The Award recognizes facilities that utilize energy efficient technologies and meet industry standards for comfort and indoor air quality. The Wingate is one of several hotels utilizing the PowerCold ComfortAir Solutions, Inc., (PCS) patented four-pipe fan coil HVAC system.

Wingate Owner/Managing Partner, Steve Sparks, commented, “With the PCS system, our cost savings average more than 30%, and the energy-efficient technology reduces pollution and lays the foundation for a cleaner environment. Most importantly, the system ensures that our guests are provided with extremely quiet and comfortable accommodations.” To qualify for the award, the Wingate submitted information about the building’s physical attributes, operating characteristics, upgrade investments and monthly energy consumption. The Wingate’s energy performance score was calculated with Portfolio Manager, a software tool used by the EPA to assess energy performance. This is the second ENERGY STAR recognition received by this property. In 2002, the hotel received the ENERGY STAR Bronze Label for Commercial Buildings, an international symbol of energy efficiency.
