Work Foundation research on productivity to be presented at Context event

August 29, 2005—If just 10 per cent of the UK’s poorest performing companies could improve their performance levels to that of the top third of UK firms, the UK’s productivity would increase by 0.25 percent per year, equivalent to a 2 billion increase in GDP, according to The Work Foundation, a main sponsor of this autumn’s Context exhibition in London.

Work Foundation just launched its report entitled “Cracking the performance code—how firms succeed” at the London Stock Exchange. The culmination of over two years of research, the report focuses on measuring company productivity performance and proposes ways in which companies can better themselves. Over 3,000 UK firms of every size were surveyed as part of the research, says Work Foundation.

Chris Fountain, Context event director, comments, “The Company Performance Index devised by the Work Foundation and used in this research threw up some very interesting discussion points. The key elements of capturing creativity and innovation, of communication, of having visible and accessible leadership and of providing an environment where culture remains restless all have an impact on workplace design and in many ways reflect the four key themes of Context – Knowledge, Productivity, Environment, and Design. The Work Foundation will delve deeper into these through a series of presentations and seminars at Context in October.”

The Work Foundation will present its research at Context, an exhibition that covers the total workplace environment. Context will take place at Earls Court 2 in London October 11-13, 2005. For more information visit Context.
