Xerox wins two major contracts: $23 million with HSBC and a multi-million deal with Boeing

September 20, 2004—Xerox Corporation announces a $23 million contract with financial powerhouse HSBC and a multi-million-dollar contract with aerospace giant The Boeing Company. Xerox simultaneously announced an expanded suite of services and software designed to serve customers’ changing information technology needs, cut costs, and streamline work processes.

Xerox won a total of $23 million in document services contracts with HSBC in Brazil and United Kingdom. In Brazil, a Xerox Office Document Assessment identified work process improvements that yielded a five-year, $11 million Xerox contract, which will deliver more than 20 percent savings on document output and management expenses for HSBC.

Xerox replaced 3,000 individual competitive printers with more economical multifunctional systems at the bank’s three major administrative offices in Brazil. HSBC is also outsourcing its print management operations to Xerox.

In the United Kingdom, Xerox signed a series of contracts, with four- and five-year terms, valued at approximately 12 million. Xerox will provide HSBC with a range of services and equipment in its U.K. retail banking facilities.

At major Boeing offices across the United States, Xerox is implementing a document management solution that will reduce costs through a combination of office multifunction systems and a managed services approach—providing on-site service and support—to operate the technology.

The sole source, five-year contract with Boeing, valued in the tens of millions, includes 5,000 Xerox multifunction systems, services and Web-based management software that monitors equipment for maximum efficiency. Xerox was selected after a competitive bid process.

Xerox has also introduced four additions to Xerox FreeFlow SMARTsend software designed to make it easier for everyday documents to flow smoothly through businesses of all sizes. Four additions comprise a set of software and hardware to simplify work processes and streamline the path that print jobs take through commercial and in-house print shops.

One tool, called FreeFlow Web Services, creates a “digital storefront” allowing people to order print jobs and manage print jobs through the Web. The other software tools are FreeFlow Process Manager, Print Manager, and Makeready, designed to reduce manual steps and automate error-prone processes.
