A national design competition for a well-designed and practical “sun-wall” is being billed as the largest federal government building solar energy system in the world. The Competition, sponsored by American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE), calls for a sun-wall for the south wall of DOE’s headquarters in Washington, DC. It is expected that a photovoltaic system could generate as much as 200 peak kilowatts of electricity. The winning team will be awarded a $20,000 cash prize. Entries must be received by August 1.
