Steelcase to acquire Custom Cable Industries; add voice/data solutions to product line

August 13, 2001—Steelcase has made plans to acquire Custom Cable Industries Inc., which fabricates data and telecommunication network cable assemblies for telecommunications service providers, systems integrators, and original equipment manufacturers. This acquisition, expected to be complete by August 24, 2001, will allow Steelcase to supply a complete modular technology infrastructure for buildings, including power, voice, and data cabling solutions.

Custom Cable Industries, founded in 1980, has become a regional leader in the structured cable installation industry and a well-respected manufacturer of network cable assemblies for the data and telecommunications industries. The company has approximately 220 employees and three locations in Florida. This transaction will enable the company’s products to be distributed through Steelcase’s worldwide network.
