Aeron chair receives European Ergonomic Excellence award

October 19, 2001—The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) has awarded Herman Miller’s Aeron chair its certificate for Ergonomics Excellence—the highest ergonomic award in Europe.

The award is for products that meet and exceed the requirements of the British and European standards.

The Aeron chair has won several awards since it was introduced in 1994, including the Industrial Designers Society of America/Business Week Design of the Decade. It’s broad range of seat height adjustment allows users to choose either the forward-bias or semi-reclined position—or anywhere in between—over the course of a long day and through a variety of tasks. The patented Kinemat tilt mechanism allows the body to pivot naturally and simultaneously at the ankle, knees, and hips.
