February 11, 2002—Following a review of the asset maintenance training package, phase two, by Property Services Training Australia, the need for formalised training in cleaning carpet, upholstery and associated areas has been recognised by the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA). Those areas include carpet; upholstery; leather; fire & water damage restoration; curtain and drape; deodorising and carpet inspection and reporting.
“This is fabulous news for our industry,” commented National Upholstery and Carpet Cleaners Association national president David Jones. “While it may take some time to get everything up and running, it is yet another positive and progressive step forward in our growth as an industry.”
The national project steering committee held its first meeting on February 12th in Sydney.
