April 29, 2002—3Com has introduced the NJ100 Network Jack, which fits into any standard wall or modular furniture-paneling cutout and the front of the device looks like a standard wall jack but with six device ports. It expands network connectivity in offices, conference rooms, classrooms, residence halls, cubicles, and shared office spaces, without expensive rewiring or a tangle of cables.
By allowing for multiple connections per desktop, the cabling effort is streamlined and costs are reduced. In addition, the NJ100 Network Jack integrates seamlessly into the current network infrastructure, can be upgraded and requires only a single CAT 5/5e cable while also accommodating voice over IP (VoIP) traffic.
The NJ100 Network Jack provides for four Fast Ethernet LAN connections. This allows for maximum flexibility for the end user while not compromising the network infrastructure.
