October 8, 2002—The architectural/engineering firm HKS has joined forces with software developer Link Systems to create a new standard for construction deliverables at the end of an architectural or interiors project.
In addition to providing clients AutoCad construction documents, HKS delivers final plans in the Link Systems facility management system. Its clients can use these plans after the main project is complete to manage day-to-day change.
Link Systems modules, used by corporations to track and report on space, personnel, furniture, and equipment, are designed to permit the various corporate staff groups including real estate, facilities, information technology, telcommunications, finance, human resources, and administration, to work from one common platform. This approach eliminates duplicate databases, allows accurate reporting, and permits change to be scheduled by trade.
During the course of a project, information is gathered regarding the facility as well as the interior use including departmental space utilization, personnel assignments, computer, and telephone networks, etc. This FM system allows for the easy re-use of information by all staff groups.
The software has access to over one hundred standard reports formatted according to industry standards such as IFMA, BOMA, AIA, SEC on location, cost centers, departments, and others.
