October 11, 2002—Meridian Project Systems (MPS), a software and application service provider of project management solutions, and general builder The Turner Corporation have announced a three-year agreement to develop and operate a customized project management service called TurnerTalk.com .
Similar to its ProjectTalk ASP solution, MPS will provide technical administration and support for TurnerTalk, an enterprise-wide project management system specifically tailored for The Turner Corporation’s construction and corporate collaboration. This multi-year, multi-million dollar agreement includes thousands of MPS software licenses, the design and building of supporting IT infrastructure, and the management of hosting services.
Currently, MPS has thousands of ProjectTalk members within the construction industry. Both ProjectTalk and TurnerTalk enable all members of a construction team to collaborate, schedule, control costs, and manage documents and sites. All collaboration is in real-time, so every team member works with up-to-date information. The system promotes collaboration internally among Turner departments, and externally with clients and subcontractors and other partners. Turner will own TurnerTalk’s dedicated, specifically configured hardware, which will be located in its own data center.
Turner will provide the collaboration portion of the service free of charge to its owners and architects, which the company says removes one of the primary hurdles to the adoption and use of these kinds of technologies, which is cost. Turner will also promote the use of TurnerTalk by all subcontractors in order to maintain maximum efficiency across all projects. Turner will roll out TurnerTalk along with training support and programs to its 44 offices throughout the United States.
