October 23, 2002—To raise the level of safety within the window cleaning industry and ensure that both FMs and window cleaners understand the implications and obligations resulting from the approval of the I-14.1 Window Cleaning Safety Standard, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International and the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) have released a new guidebook, “The Property Professional’s Guide to the ANSI/IWCA I-14.1 Window Cleaning Safety Standard.”
The guidebook, written specifically for FMs and professionals within the window cleaning industry, is a two-part document that focuses on safety guidelines for the use of window cleaning access equipment as well as the manufacturers, designers, and installers of window equipment. In addition, the Standard addresses rope descending systems, transportable and permanent suspended scaffolds, ladders, and man-lifts.
The guidebook is available for $26.25 for BOMA members and $36.75 for non-members. To purchase or obtain more information about it, contact BOMA International at 800/426-6292.
