April 13, 2005—OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, a leading manufacturer of light-emitting diode (LED) solutions for general- and effect-lighting applications, announced it has been chosen by Color Kinetics to provide high-brightness, Golden DRAGON LED technology for several of Color Kinetics’ intelligent, white, solid-state lighting systems.
Applying Golden DRAGON LEDs as a source, Color Kinetics developed systems with proprietary control and dimming technologies that enable a number of lighting innovations, such as color temperature control, the ability to dim solid-state devices with standard dimmers and the ability to dim without altering color temperature, OSRAM says.
These innovations translate to greater white-light adaptability for Color Kinetics customers, whether lighting is controlled according to levels of daylight, to highlight certain attributes of an illuminated object or to alter an environment’s ambiance without re-lamping existing fixtures.
