New AEE books address natural gas costs, backup power, and reliability

August 26, 2006—The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is offering several new books concerning energy management, including:

  • Effectively Managing Natural Gas Costs by John Studebaker. This book is intended to serve as comprehensive reference that can be used by the commercial or industrial natural gas purchaser to sort out both the potential pitfalls that can negatively impact gas costs, and the opportunities for significant savings available to the informed user.
  • Emergency & Backup Power Sources: Preparing for Blackouts & Brownouts by Michael Hordeski. This book provides valuable information on emergency and backup power sources, with information provided on the types of systems that can take over during power interruptions, such as standby power systems that employ batteries, kinetic energy storage, fuel cells, reciprocating engines, and turbines.
  • Transmission Line Reliability and Security by Anthony J. Pansini, E.E., P.E. This book tackles both the problems of reliability caused by the deregulation of electric utilities, and those of security created by the events of 9-11.
