October 10, 2005—In conjunction with October’s Energy Awareness Month and in response to rising winter energy prices, the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the Alliance to Save Energy have kicked off a national “Easy Ways to Save Energy” campaign urging consumers, industry, and federal agencies to use energy more efficiently to reduce demand and lower costs.
To help American businesses and government agencies, DOE is sending out teams of energy efficiency experts to businesses and federal facilities to identify quick and easy ways to save energy this winter. DOE is also making its “Energy $avers” Guide available to be reprinted and distributed by manufacturers, retailers, and local utilities.
The Alliance has developed a comprehensive database of state and local tax incentives, policies, and programs that support and encourage energy efficiency. Covering all end-use sectors, the index provides a summary of each energy-efficiency measure with a link to the legislative text and to useful state contact information. The Alliance site also has information on new energy-efficiency tax credits available January 1, 2006.
