October 21, 2005—PTG Industries has introduced the Portable Hand-Held Fiber Laser Marking System, which produces permanent, legible marks on a variety of materials, according to the company.
The unit can be easily moved to any location and is capable of marking materials ranging in size from miniature to considerably large equipment that wouldn’t fit into traditional marking systems. Easy installation and intuitive software allow for a quick start-up. This new laser system 50,000 hours of maintenance-free operation, says PTG.
Components include a Q-Switched Fiber Laser, Scan Head, PC Controller, Power Supply, Marking Software, and a Red Diode Pointer. The software provides a simple interface for fills, automation, graphic importers, parts handling, machine control, transformations, quality, and more.
The Hand-Held Laser System can process a wide variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminum, carbide, polycarbonate, titanium, nickel, PVC, plastics, rubber, iron, chrome, painted metal alloys, multi-coated materials, and galvanized metals. It provides permanent marking capability for product identification and traceability in the automotive, defense, medical, aerospace and other industries. Systems are also available on a rental basis for trial applications.
