November 11, 2005—Corporate Express, Inc., has launched Ecoffice, aimed at helping its customers make environmentally friendly choices for their offices. Through the new program, Corporate Express will carry more than 3,500 environmentally friendly products and will implement in-house initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact. Corporate Express will continue to produce its 14,000-item Sourcebook on recycled paper, the company says.
Corporate Express, a Buhrmann company, is a large business-to-business supplier of products and services for offices and facilities.
To help customers identify and purchase environmentally friendly products, Corporate Express’s 2006 Sourcebook uses an Ecoffice icon to denote those products that have a reduced impact on the environment versus similar products in the same category. The same icon will be used on Corporate Express’s online purchasing site, E-Way.
The company says that many of its “green” products meet tough Federal environmental standards such as Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP), and Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG), and they help Federal, state, and local governments meet their green purchasing requirements.
The Ecoffice program extends to Corporate Express’s in-house practices as well: the Sourcebook catalog is printed on 80% recycled paper, and in 2004, Corporate Express recycled more than 350 tons of catalogs returned by customers.
