January 6, 2006—Tyco Fire & Security has announced the release of its American Dynamics line of Discover Mini-Domes designed to provide a powerful and economical solution for deterring criminal activity and maintaining public safety. The new series of high performance, integrated cameras offers resilient housings at the price of a traditional, non vandal-resistant housing along with superior video quality, according to the company.
The camera’s high-impact dome housing retains its shape even after forceful impact from vandal attempts, says the company. Unlike traditional metal dome housings that are susceptible to dents, Discover Mini-Domes are made of durable composite and polycarbonate materials and offer a choice of clear or tinted high impact bubble for additional protection, the company says.
Three camera models are available: The Discover wide dynamic range (WDR) color model with the latest Pixim Orca technology for challenging light environments; the Discover high resolution camera for extremely crisp high-resolution images; and the Discover standard resolution camera for those who require more cost-effective video coverage.
The 504 TVL Discover WDR mini-dome offers greater dynamic range that significantly improves image quality in scenes consisting of both bright and dark areas. Its Night-Saver mode increases low-light performance by approximately 20 percent, automatically switching from color to monochrome as light dims and reverting back to color once light is restores. Also, its DVR-Saver mode conserves valuable hard drive space, reducing video files by up to 30 percent when used with an Intellex digital video management system.
The 540 TVL Discover high resolution mini-dome combines vivid colors and powerful low-light performance, resulting in clear images.
The 330 TVL Discover standard resolution mini-dome is a cost-effective, full-color solution available with a 3.8-9.55mm vari-focal, auto iris lens.
The American Dynamics Discover Mini-Domes are part of the comprehensive suite of programmable dome cameras, cameras, housings, and drones offered by Tyco Fire & Security. For more information, visit the Web site.
