July 12, 2006—Permlight Product recently introduced a dimmable white-light LED fixture for use in residential and commercial building applications that produces more than 40 lumens per watt. The Enbryten Down (ENBC6F) series offers recessed fixed-position downlights designed to replace 65-75 watt incandescent and 26-watt compact fluorescent recessed can trims.
The ENBC6F consumes only 15 watts, making it 1/5th the power of comparable incandescent and the power of state and federally mandated high-efficacy 26W fluorescent recessed cans, says Permlight. The product will sell for $65-75 depending on volume requirements.
The new ENBC6F series features warm white (2750K) LED from Nichia of Japan. According to the company, the UL-classified product is the only recessed can product that is classified for use with multiple insulation contact and air-tight recessed cans for new and retrofit construction. The product reportedly contains no mercury or other hazardous materials.
Innovative technology allows the product to be dimmed with off-the-shelf phase control line voltage dimmers. According to Permlight, LEDs are also the only technology whose efficacy increases as the lights dim.
