New desiccant humidifier fueled by natural gas

February 5, 2007—The American Gas Association just announced that a new desiccant dehumidifier fueled by natural gas will be featured in The Renewed American Home and American Gas Industry Showroom February 7-10, 2007, at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Florida.

Used only commercially before now, desiccant dehumidifiers significantly improve air quality by reducing mold, mildew, bacteria, dust mites, and viruses that trigger asthma and allergies, claims AGA. A desiccant unit lowers humidity levels to 50 percent or below; levels at which dust mites and other organisms reportedly cannot survive.

Desiccants not only offer occupants a better quality of life, but also benefit builders, building owners, and property managers who are becoming increasingly liable for the presence of mold in residential and commercial buildings, notes AGA. Natural gas fueled desiccants may be part of the solution.
