ABN AMRO wins top honors again at CoreNet Global UK awards

February 28, 2007—CoreNet Global’s UK chapter recently presented its eleventh annual corporate real estate awards to recognize innovation, sustainable excellence, and new talent. The sell-out dinner with over 800 attendees raised over £5,000 for CRASH, the construction and property industry charity for the homeless.

Rob Wright was chosen as Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year for successfully championing an ambitious space efficiency program throughout ABN AMRO. Last year, the award went to ABN AMRO’s Global Head of Property and Facilities Management Services, Ray Carneiro.

As the need to cut carbon emissions is at the forefront of corporate consciousness, CoreNet Global UK introduced a Sustainability award that recognizes an inspirational project or initiative within the industry. Drivers Jonas (Alan Lattimer) received this award for becoming the first property consultancy firm to achieve carbon neutral status.

In addition, Robert Bailey of Corporate Property Advisers was chosen as Corporate Real Estate Partner of Year for his work with Rentokil, and Johnson Controls (Richard Bertasi) won the award for Innovation in Real Estate for its unique wireless, Web-based space management tool.

The CoreNet Global UK & Nelson Bakewell Student Essay Prize went to Daniel Dutton, who is currently in his first year at Oxford Brookes University. His essay was published in the Estates Gazette February 10, 2007, issue.

CoreNet Global UK reportedly played its part in reducing food miles by selecting seasonal ingredients sourced from within the UK for the evening’s menu. In addition, minimizing table coverings reportedly reduced emissions from laundry by 25%.
