February 13, 2008—EA Logistics has launched Delivered GrEAn, a free carbon offset program for corporations that utilize the company’s domestic and international freight services. EA Logistics says that the program will help customers bring their shipping into alignment with other sustainability efforts planned for 2008, at no additional cost.
Through Delivered GrEAn, EA Logistics computes emissions for each shipment based on distance, weight, and mode of transportation, and offsets 100% of these emissions by purchasing carbon credits from Carbonfund.org, one of the nation’s leading carbon reduction and offset organizations.
After a shipment has been Delivered GrEAn, the shipper gets a receipt documenting the amount of CO2 that is being offset, which can be addressed to the client or the client’s customer. The program can be further tailored to meet the specific requirements of different industry sectors, including supply chain, retail, marketing, and manufacturing.
EA Logistics says that this service helps differentiate EA’s clients from their competitors and can help them build business by meeting their clients’ CO2 reduction/mitigation targets. EA Logistics also works to reduce pollution by using bio-diesel fuels in its trucks and adopting other eco-friendly practices in its business, which can help satisfy their clients’ need to green their supply chain.
