Incasolution introduces eco-friendly energy-saving power strip

April 4, 2008—Incasolution Co., Ltd. of Korea has introduced CheckTap, an automatic energy-saving device designed to reduce or eliminate the consumption of electricity that is wasted when PCs and peripheral devices are on, but not in use.

CheckTap lowers energy consumption by automatically cutting off idle equipment without turning off or unplugging a computer. Computer performance or speed is not affected and automatic energy savings reports are generated, the company says.

CheckTap is the only software-operated product that saves both wasted power in use and standby power, according to Incasolution. It differs from existing power-saving devices or outlets that only sense the primary power source of connected equipment to turn off related peripherals.

CheckTap is a compact, easy-to-install, user-friendly unit that provides complete energy management of PCs, peripherals and other desktop equipment. Product components include the appliance body, the software program and a USB data cable. With just a movement of the mouse, CheckTap delivers automatic power savings with options for idle stop, selective cutoff, batch, step or reservation cutoff, safe cutoff and immediate play, automatic cutoff of the PC, complete cutoff of standby power, and the effect of plug-out cutoff.

A software program called CheckManager, which is updated periodically, comes on a CD as part of the product package. It provides precision, automatic monitoring and generates custom power-saving reports showing CO2 reduction.

CheckTap will be available in May at retails stores nationwide. For more information, see the CheckTap company Web site.
