July 18, 2008 INFICON, a global leader in advanced technologies for emergency response and security, and for the refrigeration/air conditioning, semiconductor, solar, vacuum coating, and other industries, has received significant new orders for its HAPSITE Chemical Identification System for agencies of the Peoples Republic of China.
The orders, which began shipping earlier in July, are for a total of 19 HAPSITE systems and accessories. Some of the HAPSITEs will be used for emergency response in areas impacted by the recent earthquake in Sichuan Province, where HAPSITEs were deployed immediately following the catastrophic event for monitoring water quality, while most are targeted for security purposes at the upcoming Olympic Games in China, says the company.
HAPSITE Chemical Identification System, the only fully man-portable gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (GC/MS), was developed using INFICON expertise in gas-sensing and vacuum technology. It provides fast, on-scene detection and analysis of toxic chemicals in air, soil and water, confirming the presence of chemical threats in high-risk situations. The company has sold these products to military organizations worldwide, state and city governments, and to private and public sector customers for emergency response, security, industrial hygiene and other environmental applications.
INFICON is a leading provider of innovative instrumentation, critical sensor technologies, and advanced process control software that enhance productivity and quality in sophisticated industrial vacuum processes. For more on the company, see its Web site.
