ARCHIBUS’ Dashboard gives APPA members data to set efficiency cost goals

July 16, 2007—ARCHIBUS, Inc., a leading developer of real estate, infrastructure and facilities management software solutions, has partnered with APPA to combine APPA members’ institutional data with the ARCHIBUS Web Central and data dashboard technology.

The resulting Facilities Performance Indicators Dashboard gives APPA members comparative information on, and insights into, facilities management costs across member institutions that can be used to improve their own policies and practices.

The data dashboard, according to ARCHIBUS, provides an unprecedented and invaluable management perspective to our target professionals that will let them understand all aspects of their facilities and help them align their operational goals with the educational outcomes of the institution.

APPA’s linking programming, design and construction, and facilities operations in an integrated way is essential to achieving educational outcomes, says APPA. To that end, the Dashboard will:

  • Place organizations’ performance in the context of peer institutions and allow users to set target goals for future performance
  • Give facilities professionals the tools to tell the facilities management story and show their value and expertise in a new, very credible way.
  • Ensure focus on all aspects of operations through the “Balanced Scorecard” framework.

The Facilities Performance Indicators Dashboard helps facilities professionals raise awareness of current facilities conditions on their own campuses comparatively nationwide, and encourage careful and judicious planning for future capital needs and spending.

The reports generated by the Dashboard inform and provide support for future policy discussions by providing the research upon which better institutional decision-making is based. By providing numbers to support the needs, and not just promote the trends, the Facilities Performance Indicators Dashboard also highlight the essential role of facilities operations in the overall institutional mission and will promote facilities professionals into key-player roles in the institutional decision-making process.
