AirAnswers’ plug-in IAQ monitor detects mold, viruses and other airborne contaminants

Posted by Janet Stroud — August 3, 2022 — Testing company AirAnswers officially launched a “first-of-its kind” IAQ monitor and testing service for mold and other airborne contaminants in April, and more recently announced the launch of a strategic alliance with Best Living Systems and NORMI (National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors), two of the industry’s leading resources for mold inspectors, remediators, indoor air quality (IAQ) professionals, HVAC specialists, and IAQ/mold industry professionals.

Creating a powerful trifecta of innovation within the mold testing category, distributors of Best Living Systems high-tech air purification equipment and active members of NORMI, an approved training provider and trade association for IAQ professionals, now have full access to distribute the AirAnswers IAQ monitor to their residential and commercial customers.

AirAnswers system

The AirAnswers system is the result of strategic partnerships with physicians, industrial hygienists, and a scientific advisory board of specialists with a passion for public health and safety. Using electrokinetic capture technology to sample 150 liters of air per minute, the device allows IAQ professionals to assess their clients’ homes and businesses for potential health and property concerns such as molds, dust mites, pollens, rodents and other pests, and viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes Covid-19. by simply plugging the device in and letting it monitor the air.

By detecting Beta Glucan, and by identifying specific mold Genera and Mycotoxins, the AirAnswers system identifies air contaminants other testing methods may miss, says the company, such as when there is no visible evidence of mold. The IAQ monitor’s minimalist appearance and silent sampling technology makes the device ideal for properties of all types and sizes. Once the sampling process is complete, the cartridge containing the captured bioaerosols is sent to the AirAnswers reference lab, where it is analyzed using qPCR and other advanced technologies.

Tim Butler, general manager of Best Living Systems, stated:

I’ve seen virtually every type of IAQ product throughout my tenure, and there has never been a device on the market as accurate as the AirAnswers testing system.

Doug Hoffman, executive director for NORMI, commented:

Our mission is to educate mold professionals in the areas of assessment, inspections, sanitization, and remediation, providing revolutionary techniques and platforms to assist them with their important work. We are committed to offering solutions that mitigate damage and create mold-free living environments. AirAnswers provides the unique, research-backed solution that we have been seeking for many years, and we are excited to help push this out to the market.

Rock Marasco, vice president of Commercial Operations at AirAnswers, noted:

Doug and his team have generously shared a wealth of knowledge and resources with us as we’ve worked to develop a truly revolutionary approach to air quality testing, and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them throughout this process. We are hopeful to bring our device to every IAQ professional out there and look forward to seeing AirAnswers being utilized by those on the front lines as they perform vital work to ensure healthier indoor living environments for all.
