by Rebecca Walker — July 14, 2008—City Spec, Inc. announced that it will begin providing elevator and escalator inspection services throughout the five boroughs of New York through a partnership with Elevator Expeditor’s, Inc.
City Spec’s elevator inspection services are automated through software that manages inspections and client data and greatly increases the efficiency and accuracy of the elevator and escalator inspection process. All inspection information is easily accessible for customers online, notes the company.
The comprehensive functionality of City Spec technology enables inspectors to use mobile Tablet PCs in the field that synchronize with a back-end database. They can schedule inspection routes and upload and download job details including inspection data, prior inspection results, routes and contact information. The software also initiates billing and inspection notification and checks New York City Department of Buildings processing dates to guarantee compliance.
New York City has more than 63,000 elevators, escalators and related equipment. Starting in January 2009, all vertical transportation equipment must be inspected by a licensed private third party inspection agency.
City Spec was founded in 1992 to perform inspections on low-pressure boilers within the city of New York. City Spec’s parent company, Insparisk, is a national safety inspection company with software solutions that manage safety inspections for boilers, elevators/vertical transportation equipment, fire detection/suppression systems, building facades, HVAC equipment and electrical panels.
