Mystic Seaport selects Montel’s compact shelving storage for new library

March 12, 2007—Montel, a pioneer of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions, has announced that Mystic Seaport, a leading maritime museum, has selected Montel’s compact shelving storage solution for its new library and archive reserves.

Mystic Seaport, celebrating its 75th anniversary, has 300,000 visitors each year who come to view the world’s largest collection of maritime photographs.

For this renowned museum, Montel’s custom-designed engineered storage solution will involve the supply and installation of Montel’s SmartShelf 4-Post Hybrid Shelving and Aetnastak Cantilever Library Shelving mounted on Montel’s high-density mobile storage systems.

More specifically, Montel will be providing two large powered mobile storage systems, one to be installed in the G.W. Blunt White Library and the other to be installed for the Archives Centre, designed with 80-foot carriages for maximum capacity. Three mechanical assist mobile systems will be installed to optimize space utilization and upgrade storage areas.

To house the museum’s Regular Collection Books, Periodicals, Manuscripts and Rare Books, Montel’s high-density powered mobile storage system will offer inherent design flexibility, unique storage configurations, and state-of-the-art safety and security features.

With an ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability while focusing on green-building initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable workspace environment, for its stationary and mobile shelving systems, Montel will be applying powder coating finishing that is durable, high-quality and non-off gassing, meeting the museum conservation requirements.
