June 12, 2006—NeoCon’06 is the venue for Teknion Corporation’s debut of its new Metrix task chair that delivers, says the company, all three requirements inherent in good office seating: it promotes movement and good posture, and it is easy to use. It does these things through a combination of the seat pan contour, foam density, and a unique “flex zones” design that distributes the seated user’s weight evenly to relieve pressure, thereby improving circulation.
Metrix, conceived by Wolfgang Deisig, has been designed for the image market, priced for the mid-market, and engineered for comfort, says Teknion.
“The shape of the Metrix back follows the double S-curve of the human spine and follows the natural movement of these curves, providing proper back support,” says Deisig, an international industrial designer based in Germany and known for his high-performance seating.
When the user is reclining, the upper back is supported by the backrest, alleviating shoulder stress. The backrest remains in contact with the user’s lumbar area throughout normal working posture, providing complete comfort, explains the designer.
Metrix is easy to adjust and operate. Simple and intuitive adjustments, including a five-position tilt lock and back tension control, allow users to personalize their support. T-arms are height and width adjustable and pivot to encourage various working positions. Unique pivoting loop arms are also adjustable for height, width and depth. Loop arms fold behind the back of the chair when arms are not required.
Metrix can be ordered with a variety of upholstery options; frame colors are black, platinum, and polished aluminum.
