December 31, 2004—Nucor Corp., the largest steel producer and recycler in the US, has contracted to implement IFS Applications business software. Nucor will use IFS’ maintenance, purchasing, and inventory applications at its plant in Jewett, Texas, which produces carbon steel shapes and bar products.
The decision by Nucor was based on the IFS Applications’ ability to combine maintenance, inventory and purchasing applications in a complete, integrated solution. Explains James Darsey, Vice President and General Manager of Nucor’s Jewett facility, “The IFS software will enable us to better control maintenance costs by decreasing down time on our equipment while reducing maintenance inventory.
