Settlement period closing for Phenolic foam roof insulation lawsuit

September 25, 2002—Building owners who wish to participate in the lawsuit against Beazer Phenolic Foam Roof Insulation must file a claim prior to the deadline of December 13, 2002 in order to protect their right to the settlement.

Beazer Phenolic Foam Roof Insulation was manufactured and shipped from 1980 through January 1989 for use as roof insulation. Beazer PFRI has been the subject of a putative class action lawsuit in which the plaintiffs allege that Beazer PFRI causes severe corrosion to metal roof decks and other damage to roofing systems.

The suit has been settled with the manufacturer of PFRI – Beazer East Inc. previously known as Koppers Company, Inc. (“Beazer”). On December 13, 2000 the United States District Court granted final approval to the settlement and provided available funding to remediate all steel roof decks and other substantial relief.
