May 25, 2007—Axis Communications announces the launch of the AXIS 215 PTZ Network Camera, which it describes as the first pan/tilt/zoom camera shaped like a dome camera and providing 360-degree panning with the use of a new auto-flip feature. The highly compact AXIS 215 PTZ is geared for indoor surveillance in retail stores, reception areas, schools, offices, and other places that require both overview and zoom functionality, the company says.
AXIS 215 PTZ features automatic day and night functionality, 12x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom and auto-focusing. Simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video streams at resolutions up to 4CIF allow for optimized quality and bandwidth usage. Pre- and post-alarm image buffering, video motion detection, as well as scheduled and triggered event functionality with alarm notification together create an effective solution for indoor monitoring. Two-way audio support enables remote users to not only view but also to listen in on an area and communicate orders or requests to visitors or intruders.
The AXIS 215 PTZ comes complete with all indoor mounting accessories while a separate housing is available for outdoor use. The AXIS 215 PTZ will be available for $999 through Axis distribution channels in June 2007.
