BBJ Environmental Solutions’ MicroBiocide helps keep HVAC systems microbe-free

March 6, 2002—BBJ Environmental Solutions, which manufactures products that eliminate air contamination in HVAC systems, is now offering BBJ MicroBiocide—a system registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency to prevent or inhibit the growth of active microorganisms such as bacteria, mold, and other fungi that grow in HVAC systems. The company says that, unlike other decontamination products, BBJ MicroBiocide makes treated surfaces uninhabitable to future microbial growth for months at a time.

Robert Baker, chairman and CEO of BBJ, says, “Biological contamination should be a concern for Federal and local officials, environmental consultants, building managers, home owners, and health professionals. Biological contaminates are agents derived from or that are living organisms (e.g. viruses, bacteria, fungi) that can be inhaled and may cause many types of health effects including allergic reactions, respiratory disorders, hypersensitivity diseases, and infectious diseases.” He points to a recent case in a New Jersey hotel, where it’s suspected that HVAC bacteria led to many guests being hospitalized with flu-like symptoms.
