Boise Cascade’s new Boise Select is a high performance, hybrid particleboard

August 31, 2005—Boise Cascade has introduced a new grade of high-performance particleboard called Boise Select, which has a higher internal bond, tighter core, and is made with “significantly reduced fiber size,” the company says. These new attributes allow Boise Select to be used in slot walls used by retailers to display clothes and other items, profiled doors and furniture parts, and other applications as a substitute for higher-priced medium density fiberboard (MDF).

Boise Select was designed to fill the niche between regular particleboard, which does not have sufficient characteristics to be used in some products or projects, and MDF, which has unnecessary characteristics for many applications that make it cost more than particleboard, explains the company. It adds that Boise Select can reduce a customer’s raw material cost while providing superior performance.
