Through a systemwide performance contract, Bon Secours Health System has commissioned Johnson Controls, Inc., to augment its healing environment with enhanced non-clinical improvements, including heating, cooling, lighting and security systems at 24 hospitals in 14 communities in nine states.
The program’s first phase, now underway, a $5.2 million facilities upgrade at three Hampton Roads, VA, hospitals includes energy-efficient equipment such as chillers and boilers. In addition, Johnson Controls has helped Bon Secours realize cost savings and improved regulations compliance with the development of a centralized medical waste-processing center serving the three hospitals
Although each Bon Secours facility will customize its own contract, the partnership makes Johnson Controls the sole-source provider of facility upgrades. Bon Seours operations include 24 hospitals, nine long-term care facilities, eight assisted-living facilities, and 11 home care and hospices. Feasibility studies are planned at all Bon Secours facilities to determine the scope of upgrades necessary.
