British Safety Council Awards offers new training for workplace safety

November 4, 2005—British Safety Council Awards has launched two new qualifications designed to make workplaces healthier and safer through up-to-date and structured training.

The BSC Awards Level 2 Certificate in Supervising Staff Safely and a separate Level 2 Certificate in Risk Assessment have both been developed in consultation with a range of expert organizations across industry.

The Supervising Staff Safely qualification has been specifically designed to meet the needs of todays line managers and supervisors in the workplace. The Certificate in Risk Assessment provides formal recognition of an employees ability to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.

Both qualifications are based on the national occupational standards for health and safety and are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority for inclusion in the National Qualifications Framework.

The British Safety Council has also developed new training courses to enable candidates to reach the qualification standard. Fully in line with educational best practice, this fresh training provision places special emphasis on participative and interactive learning techniques, and is intended to be enjoyable and motivating, as well as concentrating on how to apply practical knowledge and understanding, the BSC says.
