October 24, 2004—Checkmate UK Ltd., a manufacturer of personal protective equipment for fall arrest and height safety, has acquired safety systems provider Online Safety Ltd.
Online Safety specializes in devising roof access systems to minimize the risk of falls from height. It has worked on a number of historic royal palaces and has among its client base the National Trust and English Heritage. Recently, the company devised a method of attaching guardrails to a castle without the need to drill into the walls.
According to Checkmate UK, Online Safety’s new role means that in addition to Checkmate’s existing vertical rail and lifeline systems, the company can now offer a total solution for working at height, including walkways, guardrails, and access ladders.
