Commercial energy exchange portal said to be first of its kind

September 5, 2007—Dallas-based SaveOnEnergy.com, a leading energy marketing firm, announced the company will launch what it says is the first commercial retail exchange portal in the competitive energy industry. SaveOnEnergy.com’s exchange portal will be available to commercial customers in Texas beginning October 1. SaveOnEnergy.com, the market leader in Texas’ competitive energy market, currently operates in eleven states.

Different than other online energy brokers, SaveOnEnergy.com will no longer use an internal direct sales force for commercial leads and will truly become a clearinghouse where suppliers compete directly for the customer’s business, says the company. Similar to the model of LendingTree.com in the mortgage industry, commercial prospects will submit information on SaveOnEnergy.com, and the information will be sent directly to the participating electricity suppliers to contact the customer directly.

SaveOnEnergy.com’s exchange portal allows up to eight pre-qualified and highly screened suppliers to be listed on the site per state. The spots for the suppliers are filled on a first come, first serve basis. In Texas, six of the eight spots were filled within the first week of announcing the program. The suppliers pay a monthly access fee, as well as a success-based commission per sale. The leads are delivered on a real-time basis, as well as being captured in a secure server where all commercial leads may be viewed.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, SaveOnEnergy.com plans to continue the company’s aggressive expansion targeting additional US markets, as well as Canada and potentially Europe. SaveOnEnergy.com says it aims to be the leading Internet-based site in every deregulated energy market.

Founded in 2003, SaveOnEnergy.com, a leading source for energy information and solutions, is a free online service providing consumers with the tools to easily find, compare and order competitive energy services.
