December 25, 2006—The US Department of Energy (DOE) has completed the pilot round of product testing for the DOE Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Commercial Product Testing Program.
The testing program will support DOE planning for SSL R&D and commercialization support activities, including ENERGY STAR program planning, technology procurement activities, and related technology demonstrations. It will also provide unbiased, reliable product performance information to the public in the early years of SSL market development, and strengthen test procedures and measurements for SSL products, explains the DOE.
The Department will allow its test results to be distributed in the public interest for noncommercial, educational purposes only. The first detailed test reports, covering downlights, task lights, and under-cabinet lights, are available upon request. For more information, visit the DOE’s SSL site.
