December 7, 2005—The US Department of Energy (DOE) announced a partnership on November 10 with the Energy Solutions Center Inc. (ESC) to train federal energy managers, natural gas utilities and manufacturers on energy-efficient gas fueled technologies. Energy Solutions Center Inc. (ESC) is a technology commercialization and market development organization representing energy utilities, municipal energy authorities, and equipment manufacturers and vendors.
The new partnership will train federal energy managers to accelerate the acceptance and use of new technologies that can reduce federal sector energy consumption and lower energy costs. Courses will provide instruction on commercially available energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
The initial focus will be on distributed energy resources and combined heat and power technologies.
The workshops and courses will also highlight ways that federal agencies can fund alternative energy projects at their sites. This work will coincide with the work of DOE’s Energy Saving Expert Teams that are currently assisting federal facilities and the private sector in reducing energy use, particularly natural gas this winter. These teams are part of the Easy Ways to Save Energy campaign.
