With the announcement of Earth Award, an Earth-friendly, green building program, BOMA is accepting entries. Entrants are required to supply information on their building’s hazardous and non-hazardous materials management, hazard communications, emergency response plans and preparedness, water and energy conservation, indoor air quality, green purchasing, tenant communications, and employee health and safety. A section, optional, will give entrants the opportunity to state unique and creative environmental initiatives that fall outside the stated criteria. These could be, for instance, the handling of wetlands on or near the facility grounds or solar power. For the inaugural program there are no building-size categories, although they may be added in the future.
