faciliCAD issues first in a series of incremental releases with Version 2 software

October 10, 2005—In November 2001, faciliCAD LLC presented Version 1 of faciliCAD, a facility management software solution that targets both small and large facilities looking for an inexpensive and user-friendly CAFM application; it was based on 15 years of FM software experience. Now, faciliCAD has migrated from an Access database structure to a Microsoft SQL database in Version 2.

According to Bill Kilp, CEO of faciliCAD LLC: “This has allowed us to add a tremendous amount of power to our software. Not only have we added stability to our database structure, but we can now offer a true client server solution for our customers.” Because of the change in database formats and customer feedback on the product, Version 2 has been completely rewritten in code. Since the release of Version 2, faciliCAD LLC has “worked hard” at getting the existing features solid, while at the same time answering to the needs of the existing client base, the company explains.

faciliCAD LLC has decided not to make customers wait for the next release to get important features that have been developed and tested. In September of 2005, faciliCAD released the first in a series of incremental releases that are building up to the final release scheduled for year’s end. These incremental upgrades are available to all existing customers on subscription as well as any new customers.

The current release includes additional capabilities in Autodesk Architectural Desktop, expanded features with Suites as well as a new feature that allows the user to attach multiple documents to records, such as Site, Building, Floor, Rooms, Suites, Zones, Employees, Assets. These documents are part of a Document Style set that defines the Type of Documents (Lease, Warranty, etc.) as well as the file format (.pdf, .doc, etc.) Also within the document type is the ability to make documents date driven. This, explains faciliCAD, gives the user the ability to assign Start and End dates to specific documents and also the ability to set a particular document as current for reporting and sorting purposes.
