Wind farm company proVENTO International is establishing its US headquarters at Cape Charles Sustainable Technology Park on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. ProVENTO, based in Koblenz, Germany, will invest $7.5 million in a US headquarters facility and six 1.3-megawatt windtowers. The wind farm is one of the first wind projects to be realized in Virginia, intended to be a showcase of modern wind technology. According to Virginia’s Governor Jim Gilmore, the six windtowers that proVENTO will place on Virginia’s Eastern Shore will create enough energy to supply more than 3,000 homes. Building One has recently been completed in the Park, with 14,400 square feet (sub-dividable) available.
Companies that have located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia because of the development of Cape Charles Sustainable Technology Park include: Energy Recovery International (pressure exchangers), Solar Building Systems (photovoltaic panels), Delisheries (gourmet baking mixes), and SEA Inc. (environmental consulting). For more information or a tour of the park, contact Greg Manter, Eastern Shore of Virginia Economic Development Commission, at 888/200-1778, or by e-mail.
