Indus and J-Power to promote asset management software for Japanese utilities

July 19, 2002—Indus International, a global supplier of enterprise asset management software and services, and Japanese utility company J-Power have announced a business alliance in which the two companies have agreed to jointly sell and implement Indus software solutions in Japan.

J-Power, the largest electric power wholesaler in Japan, chose to implement Indus EAM solutions to support its 58 Hydro Power Plants nationally late in 2001. The company has now joined with Indus to market these solutions initially to other electric utility companies in Japan, in anticipation of an increased demand for computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) since the Japanese utility market will be deregulated in the near future

Initially, the two companies will focus joint sales activities on electric utilities, as this is the area where the alliance holds the most advantages. As the solutions gain a foothold in Japan, the companies will expand their targets to include facilities and property management companies (electric power companies, railroad companies, airport management companies, oil refining plants, etc.), public utilities, and businesses that provide maintenance services.
