Integra introduces environmentally friendly seating

October 12, 2005—Integra has introduced a change to its product line of lounge and reception seating designed by Bruce Sienkowski of 2B Studio. The new Rendezvous line is designed and constructed to meet the stringent demands of environmentally sensitive requirements, the company says.

Rendezvous upholstered frames are made with WOODSTALK (a Dow Bio-Product), which is made of annually renewable and highly sustainable wheat straw fiber rather than wood, says Integra. The wheat straw is produced in massive quantities year after year as a by-product of the wheat harvesting process. In addition, WOODSTALK is manufactured with a high-performance, formaldehyde-free resin, Integra notes.

Integra’s patented connection system, known as tube-and-plug, uses regrind material—the scraps left over from a main manufacturing process—in molding the plug. All foam and filling materials are CA 117 approved, which assures that they are lower in toxins and low in flammable content. Only CFC-free foam is used by Integra. A water-based, non-toxic glue is used for the foam adhesive.

The Rendezvous collection includes an oversized chair as well as normal-sized sofas in two- or three-seat designs and single or double ottomans.

Integra products can be found in every type of lounge and reception setting, with a particular focus on healthcare facilities and on colleges and universities. For more information, visit the company Web site.
