Interface introduces new green flooring products

November 16, 2005—New Interface products introduced in 2005 are a blend of nylon and polylactic acid (PLA), a rapidly renewable bio-based polymer. Theyre available as certified climate neutral products and may contain up to 60 percent recycled content, depending on the backing system specified. More importantly, the bright colors and bold patterns shatter the myth that sustainable design is limited to a drab palette.

“Modular flooring is inherently more sustainable than other floor covering choices,” said Tracy Cook, vice president of marketing for Interface Flooring Systems. “And with todays bright color and bold pattern choices, modular is emerging as a popular choice for all market segments. The design options for modular flooring are as diverse as the environments in which you now find it.”

Here are some of the products introduced in 2005:

  • Precast—Precast is inspired by the minimal look of unfinished materials such as poured concrete. This modern, yet simple product features subtle variations in tone that appear unintentional, yet meant to be. Designed for all market segments, Precast shares a sophisticated neutral color palette with coordinate styles Flagstone and Stoneline.
  • Flagstone—Flagstone is a cut and loop product that resembles a walkway paved with unique stones. Flagstones pattern is achieved through tonal variation instead of color contrast. Designed for all market segments, Flagstone shares a sophisticated neutral color palette with coordinate styles Precast and Stoneline.
  • Stoneline—Similar to Flagstone, Stoneline features a linear design. Designed for all market segments, Stoneline shares a sophisticated neutral color palette with coordinate styles Precast and Flagstone.
  • Proscenium Collection—Interfaces new Proscenium Collection uses a combination of linear and geometric elements, the patterns in this collection are designed to create an accent area or brighten up an entire room for hospitality, high-end retail and public space environments. The Proscenium Collection includes 8 patterns that can be used alone or in combination with each other. Most styles feature a unique shape or pattern over the signature Proscenium Collection plaid effect of the Opening Night style.
  • B&W Collection—You will want to see things in Black and White with Interfaces new B&W Collection. From animal prints (Born Free) to botanicals to Greek keys to houndstooth, B&W includes 10 patterns that can be used alone, in combination with each other or with solids to create the ultimate flexibility. These fun styles are making a bold move into many market segments such as retail, corporate and hospitality.
  • Cotswold and Stroud— Named for England’s Cotswolds, which were renowned in medieval times for producing the finest woolen products, Cotswold and Stroud are inspired by rustic multi-colored plaid materials. Cotswold features a bolder pattern, while Stroud has a more subtle, linear design. The color palette is neutral with vivid bright accents. These products are primarily for the corporate and retail segments.
