Isonics and DualDraw introduce sniffer-equipped inspection system

March 17, 2006—Isonics Corporation, a provider of innovative solutions for the homeland security market, says it has successfully completed a key milestone in the previously announced product development agreement with strategic partner DualDraw LLC to incorporate an Isonics ion mobility spectroscopy (IMS) “sniffer” instrument into DualDraw’s patented Downdraft Inspection Workstations.

The novel product, designed to provide significantly higher levels of protection for mailroom and other workers who may be exposed to toxic materials and explosive threats, will be introduced to the industry and exhibited at the 2006 National Postal Forum, April 2-5 in Orlando, Florida.

As announced on November 15, 2005, Isonics and DualDraw, a maker of air quality safety systems for businesses and institutions, have agreed to develop and market a new product that integrates a version of Isonics’ IMS “sniffer” technology into DualDraw’s line of Downdraft Inspection Workstations. The patented DualDraw downdraft workstation keeps toxic substances out of the breathing zone of workers who are inspecting items such as mail, packages, purses, and backpacks and captures such substances with a HEPA filtration system.

The incorporation of Isonics’ IMS capability will provide advanced detection and early-warning alarm capabilities in the event toxic or explosive substances are found. The feature has been requested by numerous DualDraw customers, including the US Departments of Defense and Homeland Security.

DualDraw manufacturers air quality equipment for industrial and homeland security use. Utilizing a patented symmetrical airflow design, DualDraw equipment protects breathing zones of workers performing potentially hazardous activities. For more information, visit the company Web site.
