Las Vegas Solar Electric installs Nevada’s largest solar electrical system

January 16, 2004—Las Vegas Solar Electric has begun construction of Nevada’s largest ever solar photovoltaic (PV) installation. The PV system is located in Henderson on the roof of the newly constructed Andrew Lessman’s Your Vitamins Inc. production facility. Las Vegas Solar Electric is working as the solar electrical subcontractor for TWC Construction on the project.

The system is 214.5kw DC and will cover an area of 23,000 square feet. The system is comprised of a 75watt AstroPower solar module applied to the PowerLight PowerGuard roofing system. The installation is scheduled for completion by mid-January of 2004.

This system once installed will be the first be the first commercial scale distributed generation system to offer renewable energy credits for sale to the privately owned utilities in Nevada.

Upon completion it will be the largest Photovoltaic installation in the history of Nevada—214.5kilowatts DC. This system covers 23,000 square feet of flat roof space and produces 21,000 kilowatt hours AC per month.

The system will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 21,000,000 lbs. (carbon dioxide) and will save over 14,000,000 gallons of water that is used in central power plant electrical production.
