Latest SketchUp release from @Last Software features section-cutting tool for 3D designs

August 26, 2002—@Last Software’s SketchUp 2.1 features a section-cutting tool that allows 3D models to be sliced for drawing, viewing, presentation, and export to CAD programs. This sixth release of the award-winning 3D design software also allows users to cut a section through their model in real-time to generate and export 2D plans, sections, and elevations of their 3D model to their favorite CAD program.

SketchUp 2.1 features include: TourGuide technology to create 3D animations; self-casting, mathematically accurate shadows; compatibility with direct-input tools (pens and tablets); drag-and-drop scanned backgrounds; scaling and grouping tools; and built-in PDF integration (Mac version). Slicing allows the user to work inside a 3D model, which @Last says is advantageous for design professionals adding on to an existing home or building.

SketchUp was recently awarded a “Best of Show” at both Macworld NY2002 and A/E/C Systems 2002. SketchUp 2.1 (English) is available for Windows and Mac OS X for $495. To download a trial version or to purchase, visit SketchUp or call 303/245-0086.
