June 23, 2008—Leland International has introduced two new seating products to the US market: the Brit Bench and the Hammok.
The Brit Bench, a Silver winner at the Best of NeoCon for the Bench Seating category, is an inviting alternative to typical bench seating. Installed as a stand-alone feature or linked together, the seat design allows visitors to either sit on or straddle the bench. The unusual configuration of invites people to stop and linger.
Designer Simon Pengellys elegant and simple form was inspired by propeller-like seedpods falling from a tree. This product is offered in three trim options: upholstered, powder coated steel or stainless steel. An optional table appears to float over the bench and can serve as a surface for a drink, small meal or laptop.
This sculptural seating solution is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications including airports, universities, museums and malls.
The Hammok Collection is a seating group of guest, arm, and lounge chairs and as the name suggests, sitting in a Hammok is a “moving experience.” Inspired by the traditional bed used by sailors that sways in concert with the movement of a ship at sea, the Hammok Collection features a gentle rocking motion. The articulating frame and shell assembly provides exceptional comfort making it perfect for conference and waiting rooms, as well as workspace and hospitality applications, says the company.
The contoured plywood shell is paired with a variety of flexible steel bases. Hammok is offered upholstered or with an exposed plywood seating surface.

The basic Hammok functions as a small-scale guest and waiting area chair, is available with or without arms, and stacks 20 high on a stacking/transport dolly. The wider lounge version has a lower back height with sculpted plywood arms joined to the steel rod frame. The same arm detail is offered in a smaller proportioned, upright dining chair model. The latest addition to the collection, Hammok Cantilever, features the shell mounted on a refined, brushed stainless steel tubular base.
