May 13, 2005—Mathsoft, the leader in calculation management, has announced the integration of Mathsoft’s Mathcad and Bentley’s MicroStation software to streamline engineering calculation and design for the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) market.
The integration will enable engineers to harness results of complex calculations computed in Mathsoft’s Mathcad to drive 3D designs parametrically in Bentley’s MicroStation computer-aided design (CAD) software, the company says.
The new integration capabilities allow engineers to use calculations based upon material properties and project requirements in numerous what-if scenarios.
Engineers who use MicroStation no longer need to spend time copying, pasting and transcribing between applications, and risk the related errors, the company says. For example, a common usage scenario might involve an engineer performing calculations in Mathcad to compute the dimensions of I-beam in a skyscraper. These dimensions can be automatically exported as parameters to Bentley’s MicroStation, instantly updating the CAD model, allowing for computationally based parametric modeling.
Mathsoft software is the internationally recognized standard for technical calculations and applying mathematics. Ninety percent of Fortune 1000 companies, 500 government agencies and 2,000 colleges and universities around the world use Mathsoft to capture the strategic value in their engineering calculations.
